Issued by the newly formed National Bank of Viet Nam (Ngân-Hàng Quốc-Gia Việt-Nam), this note belongs to the very first series of independent currency printed for South Vietnam following the 1954 Geneva Accords and the partition of the country. It was introduced to replace the colonial French Indochinese Piastre. Following the fall of Saigon in 1975, this currency was entirely demonetized, making surviving notes highly sought-after historical relics of the Vietnam War era.
