📖 History and Significance:
The Solomon Islands dollar was introduced in 1977, replacing the Australian dollar, a year before the islands gained independence from Britain in 1978. Notes are issued by the Central Bank of Solomon Islands and celebrate the nation’s rich Melanesian culture, traditional crafts and marine life.
