About Ukraine banknotes

During the Ukrainian People's Republic of 1917–1921, Ukraine issued its own karbovanets and hryvnia notes. After independence in 1991 the karbovanets returned as a temporary currency, and in 1996 the hryvnia was introduced at 100,000 karbovantsiv to one. In 2018 the National Bank issued a souvenir note marking the centenary of the revolution.
