About Uruguay banknotes

Uruguay replaced the old peso with the nuevo peso in 1975 and the nuevo peso with the peso uruguayo in 1993, each time at 1,000 to one. The Banco Central del Uruguay's notes honour writers, artists and musicians, and some lower values have been issued on polymer.
