About Scotland banknotes

Three Scottish commercial banks still issue their own banknotes, so the same value exists in several designs. The Royal Bank of Scotland is one of the few issuers anywhere in the UK still printing a 1 pound note. Scottish notes are sterling but are technically not "legal tender", even in Scotland, although they are widely accepted.
