About Montenegro banknotes

The Kingdom of Montenegro introduced the perper in 1906 and issued paper notes in 1912–1914. The currency ended when Montenegro joined the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes after the First World War. Many surviving notes are cancelled, with holes or stamps. Today Montenegro uses the euro, although it is not in the euro area.
