About Mauritania banknotes
Mauritania introduced the ouguiya in 1973, replacing the CFA franc at five francs to one ouguiya. In 2018 a new ouguiya replaced the old at ten to one, with new notes. The ouguiya is one of the world's two non-decimal currencies: one ouguiya equals five khoums.
