About Tajikistan banknotes
Tajikistan introduced the somoni in 2000, replacing the Tajik rouble at 1,000 to one. The currency is named after Ismail Somoni, founder of the Samanid state in the 9th–10th centuries, and the notes honour Tajik poets and scholars.
