About Colombia banknotes

The Banco de la República has issued Colombia's notes since 1923. For decades they were marked "pesos oro" (gold pesos), a name kept long after the link with gold had ended. The 2016 series honours Colombian cultural figures, among them the poet José Asunción Silva and the novelist Gabriel García Márquez.
