Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF)
New polymer banknotes coming 2026
The RBF is rolling out a completely new series of banknotes, to go into circulation from 2 January 2026. The redesign keeps Fiji’s signature flora and fauna themes, but adopts a more durable substrate and upgraded security features. The notes also include enhanced accessibility touches for the visually impaired.
Notably, the redesign emphasises cultural heritage and environmental motifs — for example, the new $5 note features the endangered green sea turtle, underlining Fiji’s commitment to biodiversity and climate awareness.

National Bank of Tajikistan
25-year anniversary commemorative 100 Somoni banknote issued
On 30 October 2025, Tajikistan issued a special 100-somoni banknote to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the somoni, the national currency introduced in 2000.
This marks the country’s first-ever commemorative banknote. The obverse displays a portrait of Ismoil Somoni, the historical figure after whom the currency is named; the reverse shows the modern Parliament building — symbolically linking past heritage with today’s statehood.
Collectors should pay attention: commemorative and first-issue banknotes from smaller-print-run countries often appreciate faster, especially in uncirculated condition.

Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS)
New 500 and 2000 Sudanese Pound notes introduced
On 6–7 November 2025, Sudan’s central bank announced the issuance of new banknotes in denominations of 500 SDG and 2000 SDG (2025 series). The new notes are printed on cotton-paper substrate and include security features such as a watermark of the national emblem (the Secretary Bird).
The introduction of the higher 2000-pound note aims to ease transactions amid inflation and stabilize cash circulation, reflecting economic conditions and monetary policy adaptation in Sudan.

Czech National Bank
Commemorative 5,000 CZK Note with Holographic “Magic” Element
The Czech National Bank has announced it will issue a new 5,000 koruna banknote in 2026 — in honour of the 100-year anniversary of the founding of the National Bank of Czechoslovakia (founded 1926). This won’t be just another redesign — it will be the first Czech circulating banknote to feature a holographic overprint on a metallized substrate.
