The Republican government's Ministry of Finance answered with "Certificados provisionales de moneda divisionaria" – provisional paper certificates for small change. This 50 Céntimos note is dated 1937 and was issued in January 1938, printed at a branch of the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre after the mint moved from Madrid to the Levante. It is signed by Francisco Méndez Aspe, director general of the Treasury, and Adolfo Sixto Hontán, the state comptroller. After the Republic's defeat, the note lost its legal tender value on 1 April 1939.

🎨 Design Details:
Front: Allegorical female head of the Spanish Republic facing right, framed by a chequered oval, with the text "República Española – Certificado provisional de moneda divisionaria".
Back: Large "50" in an ornamental guilloche frame with the words "Cincuenta Céntimos".

🔍 Numismatic Features:

Size: 84 × 45 mm

Material: Paper

Type: Provisional fractional note (emergency issue)

Currency: Spanish peseta (céntimos)

Country: Spain (Second Republic)

Issuing Authority: Ministerio de Hacienda

Date: 1937 (issued 1938)

Printer: Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre

Series: A

✅ Condition Guide:
F (Fine) / Circulated. A well-circulated note with many folds, softer paper and edge wear, possibly small stains or edge nicks, but complete and with the design clearly visible.
