The Serbian National Bank (Srpska narodna banka) replaced the Yugoslav dinar with its own notes, and this 50 Dinara is dated Belgrade, 1 May 1942. Its portrait shows Petar II Petrović-Njegoš (1813–1851), Prince-Bishop of Montenegro and author of the epic poem The Mountain Wreath, a central work of Serbian literature. These notes circulated until the liberation of Belgrade in October 1944.

🎨 Design Details:
Obverse: portrait of Petar II Petrović-Njegoš in a traditional cap within an ornate oval frame, the text СРПСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА and ПЕДЕСЕТ СРПСКИХ ДИНАРА, the date and two signatures.
Reverse: the Serbian coat of arms, a double-headed eagle with a cross shield, with ПЕДЕСЕТ СРПСКИХ ДИНАРА and a warning that counterfeiting is punished under the criminal code.

🔍 Numismatic Features:

Size: 148 × 77 mm

Material: Paper

Type: Standard circulation banknote

Currency: Serbian dinar (1941–1944)

Country: Serbia (German occupation)

Issuing Authority: Serbian National Bank (Srpska narodna banka)

Date: 1 May 1942

✅ Condition Guide:
VF (Very Fine) / Circulated. Shows clear signs of circulation, such as several folds, minor edge wear and some loss of crispness, while remaining fully intact with clear design details.
