It is from the series whose launch in late 2022 led to Nigeria's cash shortage of early 2023.

📦 Included Banknote(s):

2025 Nigeria 500 Naira (TBB B245g)

📖 History and Significance:
In December 2022 the Central Bank of Nigeria issued redesigned 200, 500 and 1000 Naira notes, keeping the old portraits but adding new colours and security features. The rapid withdrawal of the old notes led to severe cash shortages in early 2023, until the Supreme Court ruled that old and new notes could circulate side by side. The 500 Naira honours Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe (1904–1996), a leader of Nigeria's independence movement and the country's first President. This 2025 note is signed by governor Olayemi Cardoso and director of currency operations Adetona Sikiru Adedeji.

🎨 Design Details:
Front: Portrait of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe with ornamental patterns adapted from traditional Nigerian art, and the value in Latin and Ajami script.
Back: An offshore oil rig platform, symbol of Nigeria's oil industry, with the national coat of arms.

🔍 Numismatic Features:

Size: 151 × 78 mm

Material: Paper

Type: Circulating banknote

Currency: Nigerian naira

Country: Nigeria

Issuing Authority: Central Bank of Nigeria

Date: 2025

Catalogue: TBB B245g

Signatures: Cardoso and Adedeji

Security: Azikiwe watermark with CBN500 electrotype

✅ Condition Guide:
XF (Extremely Fine) / Lightly circulated. A lightly circulated note with a few light folds, still crisp, with bright colours and sharp design details.
