Its redesigned version was issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria in December 2022 together with new 200 and 500 Naira notes; the hasty withdrawal of the old notes caused a severe cash shortage in early 2023. The note honours Alhaji Aliyu Mai-Bornu, the first Nigerian governor of the Central Bank, and Dr Clement Isong, who succeeded him. This 2025 note is signed by governor Olayemi Cardoso and director of currency operations Adetona Sikiru Adedeji.

🎨 Design Details:
Front: Portraits of Alhaji Aliyu Mai-Bornu and Dr Clement Isong, a colour-changing triangle and a gold hologram, with the value in Latin and Ajami script.
Back: The Central Bank of Nigeria headquarters in Abuja and Chappal Waddi mountain, with the national coat of arms.

🔍 Numismatic Features:

Size: 151 × 78 mm

Material: Cotton paper

Type: Circulating banknote

Currency: Nigerian naira

Country: Nigeria

Issuing Authority: Central Bank of Nigeria

Date: 2025

Catalogue: TBB B246g

Signatures: Cardoso and Adedeji

Security: Gold hologram, colour-changing ink, windowed thread

✅ Condition Guide:
VF (Very Fine) / Circulated. Shows clear signs of circulation, such as several folds, minor edge wear and some loss of crispness, while remaining fully intact with clear design details.
