For the 30th anniversary the Kyrgyz Bank issued a redesigned series, with the 200, 500 and 1000 Som released in May 2023 and the 20, 50 and 100 Som in February 2024, all dated 2023. The portraits honour figures of Kyrgyz culture: poets, the composer and improvising singer Toktogul, the 19th-century stateswoman Kurmanjan Datka, the Manas storyteller Sayakbay Karalaev and the 11th-century philosopher Jusup Balasagun.
