The National Bank issued ever larger denominations, and to make the colossal numbers manageable introduced new units — the Milpengő (1 million pengő) and the B.-Pengő (1 billion, i.e. 10¹² pengő). On 1 August 1946 the forint replaced the pengő at a rate of 400 octillion (4×10²⁹) pengő to 1 forint. Because notes changed so quickly, people often referred to them simply by their colour. Consecutive serial numbers are prized by collectors because the notes come from the same printing sheet sequence and are rarely kept together.

🎨 Design Details:
The obverse shows Lucia Lendvay, a young woman from Székesfehérvár.

The obverse features Lajos Kossuth with the Hungarian coat of arms.

🎨 Design Details:
The notes progress from 500 to 1,000,000,000 pengő, many featuring allegorical portraits or Lajos Kossuth.
